The joyful sounds of laughter and learning now fill the halls of Pre-K 4 SA’s new South Education Center, officially opened this week on San Antonio’s South Side. The milestone event highlights a powerful public–private partnership with HOLT Group and a shared commitment to expanding access to high-quality early childhood education for local families.
“Pre-K 4 SA is a shining example of collaboration and innovation,” said Mayor Gina Ortiz Jones. “Our city leaders saw a need nearly 15 years ago, and this program continues to open doors for children, families, and businesses.”
A Purpose-Built Center for Early Education
Located at 3510 S WW White Road, the new 53,000-square-foot facility is the first early childhood center in San Antonio designed with input from architects and early learning specialists. The center features indoor and outdoor classrooms, training spaces, and offices—all inspired by San Antonio’s vibrant culture and natural beauty.
For the first time, Pre-K 4 SA now serves infants and toddlers, offering four classrooms for children as young as 6 weeks old alongside its nationally recognized pre-kindergarten program for 3- and 4-year-olds. This expansion addresses the critical shortage of quality child care options in South San Antonio.
“This center shows what’s possible when business and community leaders come together to invest in early education,” said Pre-K 4 SA CEO Dr. Sarah Baray.

Public–Private Partnership Driving Impact
The collaboration between Pre-K 4 SA and HOLT Group demonstrates how businesses and educational organizations can work together to strengthen the city’s workforce and economic future.
“When families can access affordable child care, incomes rise, productivity improves, and our city grows stronger,” said HOLT Group CEO Peter J. Holt. “We’re proud to partner with the City of San Antonio and Pre-K 4 SA to make this center a reality.”
The South Education Center is strategically located in an area identified as a child care desert in the City of San Antonio’s Early Learning Landscape Study, which found the greatest need for early learning programs in the South.
“This center is an investment in our community and a testament to the leaders who enrich the lives of our children and families,” said District 3 Councilwoman Phyllis Viagran.
Building a Brighter Future for San Antonio
By expanding to include infants and toddlers, Pre-K 4 SA continues to fulfill its mission of providing research-based, high-quality early education that lays a strong foundation for lifelong success.
“The South Education Center reaffirms our commitment to giving every child a strong start,” said Pre-K 4 SA Board Chair Elaine Mendoza. “It’s proof of what can be achieved when our community comes together for our youngest learners.”
With this expansion, Pre-K 4 SA continues to shape the future of early learning in San Antonio—one child, one family, and one neighborhood at a time.
