We thoroughly enjoyed our test drive of the new 2024 Buick Encore GX Avenir during a trip to Brownwood, Texas, where we conducted a wellness class at a retreat. The drive was exceptionally smooth, and the vehicle’s compact size made parking effortless—a perfect fit for solo travelers or small families.
Buick’s flagship model in North America has undergone significant upgrades, featuring the brand’s new face and tri-shield logo. The introduction of the first-ever Encore GX Avenir elevates the small SUV segment, offering a sportier look and feel with the available Sport Touring package. The interior has been revamped with the innovative Virtual Cockpit System, boasting 19 diagonal inches of high-definition screens under one sheet of glass, including an 11-inch-diagonal infotainment screen and an 8-inch-diagonal driver information center. 
Inspired by the Wildcat EV concept, the fresh front-end styling showcases a modern design with an electric vehicle vibe, underscoring Buick’s commitment to keeping the Encore contemporary. Maintaining the red, white, and blue, the updated logo adds a clean and simplified touch. Priced at approximately starting at $ 33,195 MSRP for the Avenir trim, this SUV seamlessly combines wagon and SUV elements, featuring a distinctive curve towards the back and a spacious interior.
Storage is limited in the functional first row due to the compact size, including a rear-view camera that stands out, enhancing the vehicle’s family-friendly utility. The comprehensive infotainment system, complete with Apple Carplay, Android Auto, and easily accessible climate controls separate from the touchscreen, contributes to the overall user-friendly experience.
Bench seating in the second row is particularly advantageous for families with car seats, providing a wide middle seat for accommodating three across. The Buick Encore offers two sets of lower anchors and three tether anchors, and the flexible buckles in the second row contribute to the feasibility of a three-across setup.
While the exterior design of the trunk may appeal to some, its functionality is outstanding. Despite the small SUV size, the trunk offers ample space, with a removable privacy cover enhancing hauling capacity. The versatility ensures compatibility with various cargo needs, including potential stroller accommodation.
