South Texas George Farms Hosts Food Truck Showdown

Bringing people together on the Farm

Family-owned  and operated local farm George Farms is located in Poteet, Texas at 595 Mobile Home Alley, 78065. They grow a variety of vegetables from sweet corn, potatoes, peppers, tomatoes, and more, including fruit. They believe family, prayer, and farming is the key to happiness and want to contribute wellness, friendships, and build long-term relationships with their customers.

The love for their community doesn’t just pour out through their fresh harvests though. It’s the variety of seasonal events that displays it as well. From picking your own fresh flowers, pumpkin patches, and even being able to do a bit of fishing on the farm is what brings friends and families together there in Poteet.

Summer Food Truck Showdown

This past weekend George Farms hosted the Summer Food Truck Showdown on their farm. There were lots of participants preparing their delicious food to compete to be crowned #1 in Atascosa County. The event included night fishing, yard games, raffles, crafts, and local vendors from surrounding areas.

Sponsors of the event were businesses Farm to Familia, Lily Hernandez State Farm, Lanassa Smoot Realtor, Strawberry Pines, Twin oaks Laser Engravings, and Gant Family Delights.

The Winners

Second place – Drop the Sauce BBQ.  Drop the Sauce is a food trailer committed to satisfying your palette with a variety of savory slow smoked meats and sides. The name is derived from an old Benson family belief that good BBQ doesn’t need BBQ sauce. They are from Pleasanton, Texas.
