The Riot Comedy Club, one of Texas’ premier destinations for live stand-up, is thrilled to announce the opening of Riot Riverwalk, a brand-new comedy club and cocktail
lounge in Downtown San Antonio. Located at 400 East Houston Street, beneath The Maverick Hotel on the iconic Riverwalk, the venue is tentatively slated to open its doors in October 2025.
Riot Riverwalk will feature a 100-seat, state-of-the-art comedy showroom designed for an immersive experience. Guests can enjoy in-seat drink ordering, a curated snack menu with candy, chips, and The Riot’s signature-seasoned popcorn, plus a full cocktail, wine, and beer menu. Comedy lovers can look forward to the funniest comedians from across Texas, a rotating lineup of nationally touring headliners, and themed comedy nights such as roasts, contests, and unique formats that ensure a fresh experience every visit.
Founded in 2020 in Houston by award-winning entrepreneur and comedian Brian Gendron, The Riot has become a cultural force in Texas comedy. Since its launch, the club has produced more than 2,300 live shows, including the annual 4-day Riot Comedy Festival in Houston, which draws national talent, industry professionals, and thousands of fans each spring.
The Houston location’s commitment to top-tier comedy and hospitality has earned it a 4.9-star Google rating with over 4,300 reviews, and the team is bringing that same passion and excellence to San Antonio.
Beyond entertainment, Riot Riverwalk aims to give back to the local community through its nonprofit Haha Comedy Academy (hahaforhope.org), which teaches San Antonio middle and high school students the art of writing, performing, and producing live comedy. The program will culminate in student showcases where participants take the stage in front of a live audience.
