Southside Spotlight: Texas Bearded Cartel

Blue collar worker by day, family man at night, and hustling his own business on the weekends, Steve Perez also known as “Spunky” and owner of Texas Bearded Cartel has mad love for his Southside community. We spoke with him on his brand and what drives him to keep on working hard on making his merch dream come alive.

Like many of us with a dream and the passion to want to build a brand, incorporating real life into the mix isn’t for the weak. But when you’re a “chingon” like Steve, you just do it; especially when your reason for doing so is your family.Live From The Southside - Texas Bearded Cartel

(Chingon means an intelligent, skilled, capable person. Someone or something cool, awesome, very good. A tough, uncompromising, or intimidating person. Source: Wiktionary.)

Texas Bearded Cartel was inspired by Steve’s connection with Bexar Knuckles, Eterno Estillo, and his favorite brew, Lone Star Beer. The merch is a Texas brand, Texas made, and is geared to support the bearded community.

As I mentioned Steve’s love for his Southside community, you can find him at events and pop ups in the area as a vendor; he also collaborates with other local businesses as well. (Keep up with the Texas Bearded Cartel events by liking their Facebook page.) His community involvement doesn’t end there as he is a sponsor of the Wild Dawgs Bicycle Club.
