The City of San Antonio’s World Heritage Office will host its 6th Annual Holiday Market this Saturday, November 19 from 9 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and will end the 2022 Mission Marquee Plaza’s programming season with a Holiday Extravaganza. The Plaza will transform into a festive holiday marketplace and feature a locally sourced farmers market with more than 30 local artisans and vendors selling specialty, handcrafted items for the holidays.
The Holiday Market will kick off with a FREE community Zumba class at 9 a.m. followed by a tree give-away provided by the San Antonio Parks and Recreation Department. Trees will be available on a first come, first serve basis.
“The Mission Marquee Holiday Market, much like the Outdoor Family Film and Cultural programs, is a wonderful community event,” said Colleen Swain, Director of the World Heritage Office. “The holiday market is part of the growing number of free events and programs hosted at Mission Marquee Plaza. We’re excited to welcome you and hope that you will return in the spring.”
Other festivities will include ¡Qué Sabor! Loteria emceed by San Antonio Poet Laureate Andrea “Vocab” Sanderson, door prizes, hands-on art activities for kids by San Antonio artist Terry Ybañez, and Mano y metate corn grinding demos by Casa Navarro.
The San Antonio UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy will present its annual Tamal Institute with a Tamal-making class by La Familia De La Torre and a demonstration of the Chili Queen recipe by Cocinitas de Tejas. Live music by Conjunto Heritage Taller and more. All activities are free and open to the public!
