Harlandale ISD’s Class of 2020 Unique Parade-Style Celebration

On Saturday, June 6, 2020, community, family and friends of this year’s graduating class from Harlandale High School, McCollum High School, Frank Tejeda Academy, and S.T.E.M. Early College High School in Harlandale Independent School District will cheer on graduates in a procession parade.  The event, organized by parents and community members, will kick off at Harlandale Memorial Stadium (located at 4002 Roosevelt, San Antonio TX 78214) where staging will be set up. Participating seniors will line up at Harlandale Memorial Stadium beginning at 10 a.m. and can decorate their vehicles with school colors and/or colors from the college of their choice. Loved ones and businesses are encouraged to park alongside the route on Roosevelt or Military Drive to watch the parade that will begin at 11 a.m. The parade will conclude on the corner of Pleasanton and Military.

A livestream of this parade will be broadcasted on The Carpenters Apprentice and Live From the Southside’s Facebook pages for those who cannot attend. Media is invited to attend both the kick off at the staging area and the parade. The main table where The Carpenters Apprentice and Live From the Southside will be set up for broadcasting is on the corner of Roosevelt and March.

Why: COVID-related social distancing measures have caused seniors to miss traditional graduation celebrations. Parents and community members volunteered to organize this event to highlight the accomplishments of the next generation.
