Angie’s Café- 1214 Pleasanton Road- Unassuming storefront dishing up hearty Mexican staples in a no-frills environment. Angie’s is known for serving large potions and for their flavorful tortillas. Open 7 days a week, a well-liked menu item is the Huevos Rancheros with Barbacoa & Potatoes.
Bobbie’s Café- 6728 South Flores Street- Long-standing, humble stop for country-style American breakfasts, lunches & dinners. Opened in 1986, Bobbie’s Café is open 7 days a week for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Their breakfast menu features an array of items including breakfast tacos, egg dishes, omelets and pancakes.
Bud Jones Restaurant- 1440 Southwest Military Drive- All-you-can-eat fish & country-fried steaks draw crowds to this old-school seafood spot from 1958. Opened in 1958 by Raymond “Bud” Jones, who passed away in October 2018, the restaurant is now owned and operated by his daughter, Kathy Jones Bettencourt. Open 7 days a week, their breakfast menu includes egg dishes, French toast, omelets, pancakes and tacos.
Claudia’s Restaurant- 1305 Pleasanton Road- Family style restaurant serving authentic Mexican food. Open for breakfast and lunch, 7 days a week, a favored fare is the Beans & Cheese Taco and the Chorizo & Egg Taco.
Connie’s Café- 737 New Laredo Highway- Casual dining Mexican restaurant in a friendly atmosphere. Serving breakfast and lunch, one of Connie’s Café popular breakfast items is the Huevos Rancheros, which is served with beans, hand-cut potatoes and homemade tortillas.
Don Pedro Mexican Restaurant- 1526 Southwest Military Drive– Spacious, family-owned establishment serving Mexican & Tex-Mex favorites for 51 years. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, 7 days a week, the restaurant features a menu with popular breakfast specials including Plato Americano, Pork Chop & Eggs and Taco Combo.
El Palacio Mexican Restaurant- 6737 South Flores Street- Cozy Mexican restaurant serving authentic, homemade Mexican food and featuring friendly service. Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, the restaurant’s favorite breakfast menu items include Huevos Rancheros and Potato & Egg Taco.
El Sol Mexican Restaurant- 1815 Pleasanton Road- Standard eatery offering a range of traditional Mexican chow in a simple environment. Open 7 days a week, customers love the restaurant’s coffee, ranchero sauce and refried beans.
Georgia’s Mexican Restaurant- 2214 Palo Alto Road- Established local long-timer known for tacos & other homey, traditional breakfast & lunch eats. Established in 1972, Georgia’s is open Tuesday-Sunday. The Moe Taco, named after a longtime customer, is a fan favorite. La Barca De Jalisco- 606 Steves Avenue- La Barca is open 7 days a week, serving breakfast and lunch all day. Crowd-pleasing breakfast tacos include the Al Pastor Taco, the Cabrito Taco, the Chorizo & Egg Taco and the Country Sausage & Egg Taco.
La Sorpresa Restaurant- 3213 Pleasanton Road- Casual dining Tex-Mex café that serves authentic, fresh, homemade food with affordable prices. Serving breakfast and lunch every day of the week, except Sunday, one of their favorite breakfast menu items is their Bacon & Bean Taco.
Las Cazuelas Restaurant- 645 Chalmers Avenue- Low-key spot with simple decor offering a range of traditional Mexican grub for breakfast & lunch. Open since 1997, the restaurant is open 7 days a week. They have specials, until 11AM, Monday-Thursday, and breakfast is served all day.
Mary Lou’s Café- 1002 Pleasanton Road- Roomy establishment whipping up a selection of Mexican plates in homey surrounds. Open for breakfast and lunch, 7 days a week, an often-chosen meal is the Huevo a La Mexicana, which is a homemade, puffy flour tortillas that is filled with egg, chiles, onions and tomatoes.
Mendez Café- 201 Bartholomew Avenue- Spartan, pint-sized eatery dishing up a selection of Mexican eats for breakfast & lunch. Open 7 days a week, Mendez Café is known for their delicious, fluffy, homemade flour tortillas. Customers have praised their Carne Guisada & Cheese Breakfast Taco.
Patty’s Taco House- 2422 South Hackberry Street- Simple but festive haunt for familiar Mexican dishes, including tacos. Open 7 days a week, they have a large selection of plates and tacos. Customers like the Huevos Ranchero (two eggs with ranchero sauce, served with bacon, beans and potatoes) and the Super Taco (ham, eggs, potatoes, bacon and cheese).
Rocky’s Taco House- 2423 Pleasanton Road- Informal option serving a variety of traditional Mexican cooking in a low-key environment. Rocky’s Taco House is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. A famous menu item is their breakfast plates, including their Huevos Rancheros with bacon, beans and potatoes.
Rolando’s Super Taco- 93 Shasta Avenue- Casual destination offering Mexican fare such as fajitas & burritos in a simple environment. Open every day except Tuesday, Rolando’s is well-known for their large-sized tacos. Their menu features two sizes of tacos- small and super. Aside from tacos, the restaurant has breakfast plates, including the favorite Ranchero Supreme Plate, which comes with two eggs with ranchero sauce, bacon, beans, carne guisada, potatoes and a super-sized tortilla.
Rosa’s Tacos to Go- 1721 Nogalitos Street- Informal eatery offering tacos & other traditional Mexican cooking in a simple setting. Established in 2008, Rosa’s is open daily, except Sunday. Popular tacos include the Carne Guisada Gravy Taco, the Chilaquiles Taco and the Lengua Guisada Taco.
Sherry’s Texan Seafood Restaurant- 1113 Pleasanton Road- Closed on Mondays, this restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner the rest of the week. Their menu features Biscuits & Gravy, Breakfast Plates, Breakfast Tacos, French Toast, Omelets and Pancakes.
Taqueria Mexico- 7167 Somerset Road- Tortas, tacos & fresh tortillas are the draws to this straightforward, sit-down Mexican food joint. They are open 7 days a week.
The Original Texas Toast- 3307 South Zarzamora Street- Casual dining establishment with a classy flair, serving delicious comfort foods. Open 7 days a week for breakfast and lunch, customers love their Chicken & Waffles, which includes a Belgium waffle topped with hand-battered fried chicken and served with sweet hibiscus butter and syrup.
Tommy’s Restaurant- 1205 Nogalitos Street- Tommy’s Restaurant features several locations throughout San Antonio. They’re are closed on Mondays, but open the rest of the week. A customer menu favorite is the Barbacoa & Big Red Taco Meal, which comes with a taco, guacamole and a Big Red.
