We attended the 3rd Annual Alamo City Electrathon (ACE) Race that was held on May 23rd, 2019 in San Antonio at Traders Village. The race is one of 12 National Sanctioned Electrathon Events via Electrathon America.
The vision of the Alamo City Electrathon (ACE) Race is “to generate excitement around Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math, both for our students and our community.”, says the South San Antonio Chamber of Commerce.
The ACE Race is a natural fit for the South Chamber’s mission to foster and encourage partnerships between businesses and our community through programming, education and civic engagement opportunities.
An electrathon is a competition where the winner is determined by how far a three-wheeled or four-wheeled electric vehicle can travel, in an hour’s time, with no more than 73 pounds of lead acid battery power.
The Alamo City Electrathon (ACE) Race features electric cars that are built by school districts and community colleges in San Antonio and surrounding areas.
The 2019 race winner is East Central High School (East Central ISD), who also won the 2017 and the 2018 races. Second place was a tie between Edgewood Fine Arts Academy (Edgewood ISD) and Holmes High School (Northside ISD). The 4th Annual ACE Race is scheduled for May of 2020.
