Her dream of opening a coffee shop simmered for years until 2020 brought unexpected changes, including a layoff due to the pandemic and the loss of her mother to cancer. These experiences propelled Marta to reassess her priorities and pursue her dream with renewed vigor.
Marta’s entrepreneurial path was paved with careful planning, learning from seasoned business owners, and immersing herself in
coffee culture through experiences like attending Texas Coffee School and exploring Bogota, Colombia. In 2023, ‘Sip & Sit with ME Coffee House’ opened its doors as more than just a café; it became a community hub for connection and belonging.
The coffee house gem serves coffee but is not your typical coffee shop. Inspired by the great cafés of Europe, where conversation blooms, and writers, artists, activists, and intellectuals make their mark, the owners have consciously decided to slow things down. There is no Wi-Fi or television to encourage conversation and community engagement, and Marta hopes the cozy environment and great coffee make you feel welcome.
Beyond her business acumen, Marta is a diverse individual with a passion for officiating weddings and a deep well of knowledge. Her approach to business is grounded in compassion, empathy, and a genuine desire to connect with others.
