On November 29th in the morning, Sip & Sit with ME Coffeehouse, an award-winning coffeehouse in South San Antonio, celebrated its 2nd year of operation, marking two years of serving the community with heart, warmth, and exceptional drinks. Nestled just steps away from the historic Mission San Jose, the cozy café has become much more than a coffee place; it’s a community hub and a haven for meaningful conversation.
A Cozy Corner with Big Dreams
Opened in 2023 by the inspiring Marta Alonzo, Sip & Sit with ME specializes in high-quality coffees, teas, matcha, and frappes, making it the perfect stop for a morning pick-me-up or an afternoon recharge. Guests can enjoy charming outdoor seating with views of Mission San Jose, a true Southside gem.
Inspired by European café culture, Marta designed the space to encourage slowing down, connecting, and conversing. With no Wi-Fi or televisions, the café intentionally creates an environment where community and connection take center stage.
Ribbon Cutting and Special Recognition
As part of the anniversary celebration, Sip & Sit with ME was honored with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and recognized by the Honorable Bexar County Clerk, Lucy Adame-Clark, who highlighted the café’s impact on the community and its role in fostering creativity and connection.
Marta’s Journey: From Dream to Reality
Marta Alonzo’s path to opening Sip & Sit with ME is a story of resilience, inspiration, and community. Growing up in a farm laborer household in San Antonio, Marta’s love for coffee began in family gatherings surrounded by warmth and homemade treats.
The challenges of 2020, a pandemic, a layoff, and the loss of her mother to cancer propelled Marta to pursue her lifelong dream with renewed focus. Through careful planning, mentorship, and immersion in coffee culture, including studies at Texas Coffee School and travels to Bogota, Colombia, Marta made her vision a reality in 2023.

Sip & Sit with ME is more than a café. It is a creative hub for local artists, writers, and thinkers, hosting community events and encouraging meaningful conversations. Marta’s business approach is grounded in compassion, empathy, and connection, making every visit an opportunity to belong and engage.
