Thanksgiving, celebrated on the 4th Thursday of November, is a national holiday honoring the Plymouth colonists and the Native Americans, known as Wampanoag, who shared a historic harvest feast. It is a day where family and friends gather for a meal and to give thanks for what they have.
However, there are some folks that work that day. Restaurants are open to serve Thanksgiving meals and stores are open for those last-minute items and just general shopping.

Ambler Texas Kitchen & Cocktails– 306 West Market Street inside the Hotel Contessa- Elegant spot serving Spanish cuisine and cocktails in a romantic, riverside setting. Open Thanksgiving Day from 5:30PM-10PM, you can book your Thanksgiving feast online.
Biga On The Banks– 203 South St. Mary’s Street- Chic River Walk eatery with adventurous New American fare, worldly wines and an ever-changing menu. On Thanksgiving Day, from 11:30AM-6:30PM, they will be offering a 4-course meal for $67 per person.
Boiler House Texas Grill & Wine Garden– 312 Pearl Parkway- Industrial-chic eatery offering gourmet American dishes and fine wines in an open, airy venue. Enjoy a 4-course Thanksgiving Day meal, with all the sides and fixings, from 11AM-8PM.
Boudro’s On The Riverwalk– 421 East Commerce Street- Hip New American bistro with wood-grilled steaks, seafood, tableside guacamole, cocktails and a patio. In addition to their regular menu, they are also offering a special 3-course Thanksgiving Day menu, from 11AM-11PM. Prices for the 3-course menu are $45 per adult and $25 for children.
Earl Abel’s– 1639 Broadway Street- Casual spot with classic comfort food (including fried chicken and pies) and 3 meals daily since 1933. Open Thanksgiving Day from 10AM-3PM, they will be offering a Thanksgiving menu featuring a choice of Roast Turkey with Stuffing, Hickory Smoked Picnic Ham or Earl Abel’s Original Fried Chicken, served with soup or salad, mashed potatoes and Green Bean Casserole.
Frederick’s Bistro– 14439 Northwest Military Highway- Strip-mall eatery with window-lined walls, a broad menu of Asian-French fusion and a large wine list. On Thanksgiving Day, from 11:30PM-8:30PM, they will be offering a traditional Turkey Plate as well as other seasonal dishes, including Lamb Chops and Norwegian Salmon, made from scratch with fresh ingredients.
Mi Tierra Café & Bakery– 218 Produce Row inside Historic Market Square- Landmark Mexican cafe & bakery offering classic fare, margaritas and mariachis in festive digs. They will be serving a 3-course feast, on Thanksgiving Day from 8AM-10PM, for $19.95 per adult and $11.95 for children. Also, they will be offering their delicious Tex-Mex classics, such as Mole Enchiladas and Steak Ranchero.
Ostra Restaurant– 212 West Crockett Street inside Mokara Hotel & Spa- Upscale seafood destination in the Mokara Hotel with a raw bar plus a long wine list and river views. Their Thanksgiving Day menu includes Butternut Squash Bisque, Slow Roasted Turkey (with all the fixings) and Maple Crème Burlee and Pumpkin Cake.
Perry’s Steakhouse & Grille– 15900 La Cantera Parkway- Elegant venue offering steaks, seafood & fine wines, plus live music and a stylish bar. On Thanksgiving Day, from 11AM-9PM, they will be offering a Thanksgiving dine-in menu for $45 per person. The menu features Smoked Turkey Breast with all the sides and fixings.
Ruth’s Chris Steak House– There are 3 San Antonio locations- 600 East Market Street inside the Grand Hyatt River Walk Hotel, 7720 Jones Maltsberger Road and 17803 La Cantera Terrace- Outpost of upmarket steakhouse chain known for sizzling, butter-topped beef in an elegant setting. On Thanksgiving Day, open from 7AM-10PM, enjoy a Prix Fixe Thanksgiving menu, complete with Roasted Turkey Breast, Sausage & Herb Stuffing and Cranberry Relish.
Supper Restaurant– 136 East Grayson Street inside Hotel Emma- Contemporary all-day option offering elevated farm-to-table American plates in bright surroundings. On Thanksgiving Day, from 5PM-10PM, they will offer a special themed plate featuring Roasted Turkey Breast along with stuffing, mashed potatoes, green beans, cranberry sauce and gravy.
Sweetfire Kitchen– 16641 La Cantera Parkway inside La Cantera Resort & Spa- This stylish restaurant features farm-to-table cooking & scenic views. On Thanksgiving Day, from 10AM-10PM, enjoy their classic Thanksgiving feast for $70 per adult, $32 for children ages 6-12 and children under age 5 are free.
