Periodpalooza, a community-driven initiative that addresses period poverty, will host its annual fundraising event on March 1, 2025, from 11 AM to 3 PM at Brick at Blue Star. This year’s event will feature a circus-themed experience to raise awareness, collect menstrual product donations, and support local schools in need.
Tackling Period Poverty
Period poverty continues to be a significant issue, with one in four menstruators in the U.S. struggling to afford essential menstrual products. Lack of access can lead to students missing school, individuals missing work, and overall adverse health outcomes. Periodpalooza works to bridge this gap by directly supporting local schools and organizations.
Menstrual Product Donations Required for Entry
Entry to Periodpalooza is donation-based, and attendees are encouraged to bring pads, tampons, liners, menstrual cups, or period underwear. All collected products will be donated to:
- East Central ISD
- Young Women’s Leadership Academy
- Department of Defense Youth Program – STARBASE Kelly
Other local schools in need
The goal is to collect enough supplies to support students for an entire year and ensure they have consistent access to the necessary products.
Event Highlights
- Educational Booths – Local organizations will provide information on menstrual health, equity, and resources.
- Circus-Themed Entertainment – A unique experience designed to engage and inspire the community.
- Local Vendors – Businesses that support menstrual equity will be present, offering a variety of goods and services.
“Our mission is to ensure that no student has to miss school due to lack of access to menstrual products,” said Payton Samudio, Fundraising Coordinator for Periodpalooza. “Through community engagement and direct action, we hope to break the stigma surrounding menstruation and provide tangible support to those who need it most.”
