Who remembers going to the drive-in as a kid back in the day? The Original Mission Drive -In Theater (now Mission Marquee Plaza owned by the City of San Antonio) was opened in 1948 and located on located Roosevelt Avenue. Mission Marquee Plaza is still in use for events, but no longer allows vehicles on the premises.
With no longer having a drive-in in our city it was time to bring this staple back. The Mission Outdoor Theater is bringing back a safe drive-in on the South side of San Antonio at Brooks at 8069 Challenger Blvd, San Antonio, Texas 78253 scheduled to open September 4th.
Each screen will have its own premium general section and the staff will guide you to your parking space on a first come first served basis. Classic movie theater concessions will be available for purchase, can be ordered online, and picked up before your movie. Food trucks will also be on site.
All ages are welcomed at the venue, however, do check the ratings before attending the film. A few movies listed on the website are: Fantasy Island, Nacho Libre, Rocketman, Bad Boys for Life, and American Me… just to name a few.
You are required to wear a mask if you leave your vehicle, go to the restrooms, pick up concessions, disposing of trash, and speaking to a staff member.
