Councilwoman Phyllis Viagran and the District 3 team closed out the loving month of February by celebrating District 3 senior residents with a “You Matter” Health Fair at Southside Lions Senior Center.
The “You Matter” Health Fair was dedicated to the principles of self-love and self-care for the senior residents in the community.
The Councilwoman shared, “February is not just about flowers and chocolates; it is also a time to reflect on the significance of nurturing oneself, regardless of age. Being able to bring organizations together, share resources and programs, and do onsite checkups throughout the year allows seniors to learn about all the great opportunities in the city.
“Our You Matter Health Fair was for our District 3 beloved seniors who spend their time at our senior centers. Bringing special programming throughout the year reminds them that they are loved. We believe that practicing self-love and self-care is vital to overall health and happiness.
“Senior residents have a wealth of experiences and stories to share, and it is a priority to ensure they enjoy the best quality of life possible. Senior residents should embrace the idea of self-love by taking the time to care for their physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
“Thank you to the following organizations who joined the celebration and made it much more special.
The Gonzaba Foundation, WellMed, Texas Diaper Bank, SAFD, Via, SAWS, CPS, Metro Health, and the Emergency Management Department.”
