April Monterrosa is an award-winning entrepreneur, author, speaker, business mentor, and respected voice in the South Texas community. As the founder and publisher of Live From The Southside Magazine—the first woman-owned publication in South San Antonio—April is a trailblazer dedicated to amplifying local voices and celebrating cultural pride. She is also the author of Shine Beautifully, the children’s book Razoo in the Wetlands, and the founder of the Southside Book Fair.
April’s entrepreneurial journey began at 12, when she assisted in her family’s Greg Galindo Plumbing business. This early hands-on experience laid the groundwork for a thriving 20+ year career in the hospitality and spa industry, where she successfully ran her own esthetic and wellness business before transitioning into media.
She is the host of The April Monterrosa Show on KLMO 98.9 FM, where she shines a spotlight on the achievements of Tejanos in business, entertainment, and music. Her show also proudly specializes in playing music by Latinos in Country Music, showcasing emerging and established artists who blend their cultural roots with the country genre.
April’s work has garnered widespread recognition, including being named an influential Latina by KSAT12 News. She and her magazine have received multiple nominations in the Social Media Influencer category and have placed in the Community Leader category multiple times, celebrating her continued dedication to making a difference. She is also the 2025 Women in Leadership award winner by the Express-News.
Her honors include the President’s Lifetime Achievement Award, a formal recognition by the 87th Texas Legislature, and the Community Rising Star Award from the National Association of Women Business Owners.
