Dope Creative Studios in San Antonio gives actors a place to practice, collaborate, and create their own work. Founder Mike Valentino brings close to 18 years of experience in Los Angeles to a new creative setting in Texas.

Valentino is a filmmaker, producer, and actor whose work includes independent films, commercials, and unscripted projects. He shared with Live From The Southside that independent filmmaking remains his favorite, particularly the challenge of making a project work with the resources available.
His approach to the San Antonio studio starts with confidence. Valentino wants actors to recognize what they have to offer and become less dependent on waiting for someone else to open a door.
That goal also influenced the space itself. After operating a large Hollywood studio, he chose a house where participants can build sets, film indoors and outdoors, and write together in a relaxed environment. He believes actors can become more comfortable when the setting feels less like an audition room.
Valentino shared with us that membership is $60 per month. It includes opportunities for one-on-one work throughout the week, access to copies of filmed material for review, a weekly writers room, and self-tape auditions. Prospective members should confirm current availability and program details directly with the studio.
Valentino is especially interested in helping actors develop projects and ongoing series in which they can perform. Demo-reel footage is part of the work, but he also wants participants to explore characters across a larger story.
He sees setbacks as part of the creative process. Learning to adjust after failure has shaped his own career, and he wants the studio to be a place where people can experiment and build experience.
His invitation extends to actors, filmmakers, writers, and others ready to make something together. For San Antonio’s creative community, the studio offers another avenue to connect and begin.
