Families are invited to kick off the new school year at the Mendoza 5th Annual Back-to-School Event this Sunday, July 26, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 4018 S. Presa St. in San Antonio.
Now in its fifth year, the annual community event will provide 1,000 free backpacks to local students while supplies last. Children must be present to receive a backpack.
The event has become a South Side tradition, bringing families together for one last celebration before the school year begins. Along with free backpacks, attendees can enjoy free haircuts, food, drinks, kids’ activities, entertainment, local vendors, and access to community resources. Families will also have the opportunity to connect with organizations and businesses offering services and programs that support the community throughout the year.
The event is made possible through the support of dozens of local businesses, organizations, volunteers, family members, and friends who donate their time and resources each year.
