A new gym is coming to San Antonio’s Southside. Crunch Fitness plans to open a location at 2828 Goliad Road, near Southeast Military Drive, in early 2027. The project will bring new fitness options to a familiar building that previously housed Gold’s Gym.
Franchise operator The Undefeated Tribe plans to invest $11 million in the approximately 50,000-square-foot facility. The company says the gym will feature Crunch’s updated 3.0 design and will be its eighth San Antonio-area location. Crunch has not announced an exact opening date.
For Southside residents, the location could provide another place to work out close to home. Plans call for expanded strength and cardio areas, along with Olympic lifting platforms and space for personal training. Members will also have access to group fitness classes and specialized workout areas.
The proposed class and training options include hot yoga, reformer Pilates, and a HIITZone. The plan also includes a functional training area with indoor turf. These features accommodate different workout styles, from individual strength training to instructor-led sessions.

Crunch also plans several recovery amenities. The company lists HydroMassage beds, an infrared sauna, red light therapy, and a Frost Locker among the proposed offerings. Kids Crunch babysitting is also expected to be available. Access to classes, recovery services, and childcare may depend on membership level and facility policies.
According to the announcement, the gym is expected to operate 24 hours a day. Memberships start at $9.99 per month. Crunch is also promoting an introductory offer for its first 500 founding members. The offer includes a $1 enrollment fee, a free first month, and other introductory perks.
Anyone considering joining should review the full terms before signing up. Membership prices, fees, promotions, and access to specific amenities can change. The company has posted information through its membership reservation page.
The project is also expected to create more than 100 jobs. Crunch plans to recruit managers, fitness instructors, personal trainers, customer service representatives, technicians, and babysitters. Interested applicants can explore openings at epiccrunchjobs.com.
As work progresses at the former Gold’s Gym property, residents can follow updates through the Crunch San Antonio Goliad location page. The early 2027 opening remains a projection until the company announces a firm date.
Crunch Fitness provided this information in its October 16, 2026 announcement.
