Visit the TABASCO® Factory on Avery Island, Louisiana

The TABASCO® Factory on Avery Island, Louisiana, is one of the state’s most iconic attractions and a must-visit destination for food lovers and travelers alike. For more than five generations, the McIlhenny family has produced the world-famous TABASCO® Sauce on Avery Island, a unique location built on a natural salt dome. This historic site blends culinary tradition, Southern heritage, and natural beauty, making it one of Louisiana’s most memorable places to visit.

TABASCO® Sauce is made on Avery Island using a time-honored process that dates back to 1868. The island’s fertile soil and warm climate create ideal growing conditions for the red peppers that give TABASCO® its signature flavor. Despite its global reach, the brand remains deeply rooted in Louisiana, with Avery Island remaining the heart of TABASCO® production and storytelling.

The TABASCO® Brand Factory Tour and Museum offers visitors a self-guided experience through the history and production of the legendary hot sauce. Guests can explore exhibits highlighting the brand’s origins, visit the pepper greenhouse, and see the barrel warehouse where TABASCO® Sauce is aged. The experience also includes a salt mine diorama, conservation exhibits that explain the island’s ecosystem, and access to the expansive Jungle Gardens, a 170-acre nature preserve filled with wildlife and scenic walking paths.

In addition to the museum and factory tours, visitors can shop for exclusive products at the TABASCO Country Store® or enjoy Cajun-inspired cuisine at TABASCO® Restaurant 1868!, which overlooks Avery Island’s surrounding landscape. Together, these attractions create a well-rounded experience that combines food, history, and outdoor exploration.

The TABASCO® Factory Tour hours are daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Central Standard Time. Admission for the Avery Island Fan Experience is $15.50 for adults, $12.50 for seniors and veterans, and children four years old and under are admitted free.
