Texas Talent: Lisa Alfaro

Champion for Women in Business and Community Connector

From the Rio Grande Valley to the Heart of San Antonio

This Texas Talent was born and raised in McAllen, Texas. Lisa Alfaro now calls the Southeast Side of San Antonio home. With nearly two decades of experience in Marketing Communications, Lisa has worked with major organizations like the American Heart Association, the Greater Austin Hispanic Chamber, and Babies “R” Us. Her client portfolio spans a variety of brands. It causes—from Koozie and Chinet to Farm to Familia and Equality Texas-RGV. Today, she uses that expertise to empower women in business through personalized marketing consulting, coaching, and her community initiative, Café y Conexión.

From Corporate Creative to Community Catalyst

Lisa’s journey into entrepreneurship was born out of a desire for authentic connection. After working for years in corporate marketing roles and PR agencies, she left the traditional 9-to-5 in 2017. What followed was a season of self-discovery, growth, and community building. The creation of Café y Conexión, a free-to-join networking community for women, marked a turning point. It became a space for women to gather, collaborate, and grow, especially those who felt disconnected from the usual networking scene.

The Highs, the Lows, and the Lessons

Breaking into the marketing world wasn’t easy. After relocating to Austin, Lisa faced a challenging job market. However, she landed her first agency job through grassroots networking and social media savvy. Later, as a freelancer and business owner, she navigated the complexities of motherhood, multiple moves, and entrepreneurship during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Still, Lisa highlights the blessings along the way—mentors who believed in her, opportunities to teach others, and the power of paying it forward. “I don’t believe in holding on to knowledge,” she says. “We are stronger together.”

Empowering Women Through Connection and Confidence

What truly sets Lisa apart is her passion for helping women reclaim their voice in marketing. In a noisy digital world filled with trends and pressure to “do it all,” she teaches business owners to embrace what feels aligned and effective. Through her coaching program, SHE: Spark | Hype | Empower, and her community group Café y Conexión, she’s creating pathways for women to show up boldly, build genuine relationships, and grow their businesses with purpose.

“We’re all born with unique gifts—and those are meant to be used boldly in business.”
