There’s something about cruising the streets of San Antonio in a sports car that makes you feel alive. I had the chance to test drive the 2025 Toyota GR Supra 3.0 Premium in Supra Red, and let me tell you—it was nothing short of exhilarating.
First Impressions
The Supra Red finish glistens in the Texas sun, commanding attention whether parked at the Pearl or gliding down South Alamo. The 2025 GR Supra looks sleek, aggressive, and perfectly sculpted, turning heads. The premium details, like the dual exhaust, bold stance, and Michelin® Pilot® Super Sport tires, set the tone before you even fire up the engine.
The Power Under the Hood
The GR Supra is more than just good looks. It’s powered by a turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine delivering up to 382 horsepower and 368 lb-ft of torque. With the option of an automatic or manual transmission, the driving experience is tailored to enthusiasts of every style.
In automatic mode, the 3.0 Premium achieves 0-60 mph in just 3.9 seconds, while the manual version takes 4.2 seconds. Either way, the acceleration is turbine-smooth yet raw enough to give you that heart-pounding thrill. Switching between Normal, Sport, and Individual drive modes is a blast, whether you’re cruising along the River Walk or pushing it on open stretches of I-37.
Handling San Antonio Streets
From the historic King William District to the rolling roads just outside the city (and making a stop at the Frost Bank Center as pictured), the GR Supra felt balanced and agile. The Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) and sport-calibrated electronic power steering made every corner precise and responsive. Even on bumpier city streets, the car remained smooth and confident.
One of my favorite moments was pushing it into Sport Mode, the steering tightened, body roll was minimized, and the Supra felt planted as if it belonged on a race track. The deep growl from the dual-branch exhaust reminded me why this car was designed to excite every sense.
Inside the Cockpit
Stepping inside, the 3.0 Premium’s refined cockpit makes you feel right at home. The black leather-trimmed sport seats hugged me in comfort while still feeling race-ready. The 12-speaker JBL® Hi-Fi audio system filled the cabin with crisp sound, perfect for blasting some Texas country or Tejano while cruising.
Everything inside feels driver-focused, from the ergonomically designed shifter to the rotary touch controller for the 8.8-inch touchscreen. With wireless Apple CarPlay and Qi wireless charging, the Supra seamlessly blends luxury with modern convenience.
Safety & Tech That Matters
Beyond the thrill, the Supra doesn’t forget practicality. Features like the Blind Spot Monitor, Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert made navigating busy San Antonio traffic easier and safer.
Additionally, the complimentary 1-year membership to the National Auto Sport Association (NASA) is a valuable bonus, offering owners the opportunity to test their Supra’s capabilities in a real racing environment.
Final Thoughts
The 2025 Toyota GR Supra 3.0 Premium isn’t just a car, it’s an experience. In Supra Red, it feels bold, confident, and unapologetically fun. Whether you’re weaving through San Antonio’s downtown streets or opening it up on a stretch of Texas highway, this car delivers the thrill of an actual sports car with the luxury touches that make every drive special.
If you’re in San Antonio and itching for a drive that excites your senses, the 2025 GR Supra deserves a spot at the top of your list.
