Southside business owner, resident, and co-founder of Mora-Vation Ministry Fernando Mora hosted his 6th annual Toy Giveaway at Arnold Park in south San Antonio on Saturday, December 14, 2019. For the past six years Mora-Vation Ministry has made it a priority to give away toys and bicycles to the less fortunate children in the south side community.
Fernando Mora, owner of Mora Medical Marketing, is a second generation Mexican-American born here in San Antonio, Texas and raised on the south side. He is a graduate of Harlandale High School and earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in business administration from the University of Incarnate Word.
The Mora-Vation Ministry toy giveaway was launched in the Fall of 2014 and with the support of friends, family, and several local businesses, it blossomed to their biggest giveaway to date, giving over 450 toys and 30 bicycles away this year. The mission of the toy giveaway was inspired by the children patients of the doctors Mora’s marketing clients care for.
Over 500 people from the San Antonio community attended the toy giveaway event including Councilwoman of District 4, Dr. Adriana Rocha Garcia. Also joining in on the festivities was Tyrone Smith, director of Ramirez Community Center who was disguised as “The Grinch” and Superheroes from Cause-Players Alliance.
Some of the business that sponsored this year’s toy giveaway were Holy Smoke Caterers, LRC Music, Precision Medical Systems, San Antonio New Step, Communicare Health Centers, and Live From The Southside. Many other local businesses also participated in the giveaway and mingled with the attendees.
If this community story doesn’t get you in the holiday spirit, I don’t know what will. The Mora-Vation Ministry Toy giveaway is just proof that when people in the community come together, great things are possible and do happen.
