San Antonio’s Electric Transportation Expands with The Local SATX

San Antonio’s push for sustainable and accessible transportation has taken a huge leap forward with the launch of The Local SATX, a new electric vehicle service expanding eco-friendly transport options across the city. Following its recent acquisition of SaGO, The Local SATX is reshaping urban mobility to connect residents and visitors to San Antonio’s vibrant cultural hotspots. This promising venture, co-owned by Kevin and Elizabeth Mancha, Lorenzo Gomez III, and Michelle Martinez, is powered by a team with deep local roots—each co-owner is a former SAISD student with a shared passion for their hometown.

The story behind The Local SATX is one of community, collaboration, and commitment to sustainability. Kevin, Lorenzo, and Michelle first crossed paths at Tafolla Middle School, just two miles west of downtown San Antonio. Today, as prominent business owners, they’re channeling their expertise back into the community they grew up in, transforming transportation options while keeping the needs of locals and small businesses at the heart of their mission.

The Local SATX offers innovative first-mile and last-mile transportation solutions, easing short-distance travel around San Antonio’s urban core. With over 20,000 rides completed, they’re already helping to reduce urban congestion and support the city’s sustainability goals. By acquiring SaGO, The Local SATX will continue its partnership with VIA Metropolitan Transit, operating “The Little Runner” service in the Downtown VIA Link zone, bridging riders from VIA hubs to destinations like UTSA’s Downtown Campus. Through this collaboration, The Local SATX is working to create a more sustainable, reliable, and accessible transit landscape for all.

Co-owner Kevin Mancha enthusiastically proposed the venture: “We’re thrilled to bring Lorenzo and Michelle on board. Growing up in this community, we’ve always shared a love for our city and its culture. With our combined expertise, we’re ready to make San Antonio even more connected and accessible for everyone.”

It is not only enhancing transportation but also strengthening connections to local businesses. With a dedication to supporting San Antonio’s small business community, The Local SATX is committed to ensuring that locals and visitors can enjoy easy access to the best the city offers. Elizabeth Mancha, co-owner, explains, “We want to create a welcoming transportation experience that connects people to the vibrant life of our city. We’re travelers at heart, always seeking local gems wherever we go, and now we’re making that vision a reality here in San Antonio.”

Lorenzo Gomez III, a key figure in San Antonio’s downtown revitalization, brings invaluable expertise in building walkable micro-districts and fostering the entrepreneurial spirit of downtown. Meanwhile, Michelle Martinez’s two decades in communications and partnership-building amplify the venture’s impact across the nonprofit, public, and private sectors. Together, this team is turning their vision of a more connected, community-focused San Antonio into a reality.

City Councilmember Dr. Sukh Kaur, representing San Antonio’s District 1, praised the venture: “I’m thrilled to see four local entrepreneurs and SAISD graduates step up to support a more sustainable San Antonio. The Local SATX perfectly aligns with our goal of offering reliable, accessible transportation for all. The expansion will help reduce congestion, support small businesses, and bring more people into the heart of our city.”

The Local SATX’s commitment extends beyond transportation—it’s also a creative platform for local advertising. Their out-of-home (OOH) advertising service allows businesses to capture attention in high-traffic areas, connecting with customers where they live, work, and explore. From sports games to festivals, The Local SATX also provides specialized rides for events, making getting to and from San Antonio’s many community gatherings easy and enjoyable.

As San Antonio’s electric vehicle transportation options expand, The Local SATX exemplifies what a community-first, sustainable business model can achieve. With support from partners like VIA and RideCo, The Local SATX is leading the way in creating a greener, more inclusive urban experience.
