San Antonio Fall Festivals Celebrate Art, Culture and Community
Fall in San Antonio brings a full season of festivals, performances, exhibitions and cultural experiences to communities across the city.
These San Antonio fall festivals offer opportunities to discover new artists, honor longstanding traditions and connect with the people who contribute to the city’s creative culture.
“These festivals and events are an invitation to get out, explore, and experience the incredible artistic and cultural talent that thrives throughout our city,” said Krystal Jones, director of the City of San Antonio Department of Arts & Culture. “From lively performances to immersive visual arts experiences, San Antonio offers something for everyone to enjoy and discover this fall.”
Jones added that attending these events also supports local artists, cultural organizations and businesses that contribute to San Antonio’s community and economy.
World Heritage Festival
September 9–13 | Various locations
The 11th annual World Heritage Festival celebrates the San Antonio Missions, the only UNESCO World Heritage Site in Texas. Presented by the City of San Antonio World Heritage Office and its community partners, the festival features educational programs, guided tours and activities exploring the history and living heritage of the missions.
Highlights include programs at the World Heritage Center, Mission San José, Mission Espada and the Alamo. The festival’s signature Tour de Las Misiones takes place September 12 and features 7-, 14- and 22-mile bike rides, along with 5K and 10K walk-and-run routes. The routes begin and end at Mission County Park Pavilion, 6032 Padre Drive, San Antonio, TX 78214.
Additional activities include Junior Ranger Day, Mission Day at the Alamo, archaeological programming, guided heritage tours and a Care of Creation Mass and walk.

The AM Project’s MASS: A Mother’s Love

This immersive two-hour performance transforms the park through sound, movement and reflection inspired by spiritual and cultural traditions.
Fiestas Patrias and Hispanic Heritage Month

Celebrate Mexico’s independence from Spain in 1810 while honoring San Antonio’s rich history and vibrant connections to Mexico and Latin America. Cultural events will take place throughout Hispanic Heritage Month.
Festival of Chariots

Festival of Chariots offers a day filled with holistic vendors, mandala installations, illuminated floating artwork, poetry, yoga, vegetarian cuisine and other cultural experiences.
Jazz’SAlive

The 43rd annual Jazz’SAlive brings world-class performances to two stages at Civic Park. The free festival is open to all ages.
Oktoberfest

San Antonio Black International Film Festival

The eighth annual San Antonio Black International Film Festival showcases Black storytelling through films, workshops, music, networking and cultural experiences. This year’s theme is “HISTORY upRISING!”
Aki Matsuri Fall Festival

Festivalgoers can explore Ikebana flower arrangements and Bonsai displays, meet representatives from local Japanese community organizations and enjoy authentic food, music and performances.
Mercado/Material

Inspired by the history of Centro de Artes and Historic Market Square, this exhibition also celebrates Centro de Artes’ 10th anniversary. The opening reception takes place October 15 from 6 to 9 p.m. Centro de Artes is free and open to the public.
17th Annual Mole Festival

Ballet San Antonio Presents Dracula

Día de los Muertos Celebrations

Día de los Muertos Tradition Trail

Take a free, self-guided tour featuring colorful public art, five-foot alebrijes, altars, calaveras and catrina figures along the downtown River Walk.
Day of the Dead San Antonio River Parade
October 23 | San Antonio River Walk
Decorated river barges featuring altars, catrinas, music and performers will travel through the downtown River Walk. This is a ticketed event, and reserved seating is available.
Muertos Fest at Hemisfair
October 23–25 | Hemisfair, 210 S. Alamo St., San Antonio, TX 78205
This free three-day festival features more than 80 community altars, five stages of live music and performances, local artists, workshops, children’s activities, food and the Muertos Mercado. Processions take place October 24 at 7 p.m. and October 25 at 3 p.m.
Día de los Muertos: Celebrando las Misiones

This free community celebration begins with a blessing and procession at 3 p.m. Entertainment, music, family activities, a remembrance slideshow and a film screening on the original Mission Drive-In screen follow from 4 to 10 p.m.
Cultural Celebration: Día de los Muertos

Centro Cultural Aztlan’s 49th annual Día de los Muertos exhibit features altars created by local artists, live music, pan de muerto and the Avenida de los Muertos arts and crafts market. The exhibition continues through November 12.
Diwali San Antonio
