On Saturday morning, August 28th, 2021, the inaugural Compass Rose Public Schools Annual Youth Bank Fishing Tournament took place at The Greenline Park (2532 Sidney Brooks, San Antonio, TX 78235) in the Brooks area. The event was open to ALL youth in the San Antonio community.
(Compass Rose Public Schools is a network of tuition-free, public charter schools combining academic success with personal growth so that K-12 students across Texas can navigate life’s big opportunities.)
The fishing tournament was open to the public and competitors were in Elementary, Middle School and High School divisions. The young anglers were able to use their own fishing gear or use the free gear and tackle provided by the Fin Addicts Anglers Association. Artificial lures and live bait were provided by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.
(Fin Addict Angler Foundation organizes & conducts fishing clinics, promotes angler education, fostering the knowledge & skills of fishing while reinforcing the importance of outdoor ethics.)
There were 129 kids who participated in the fishing tournament and 12 of them received their official Texas Parks and Wildlife Department Fin Addict Angler Foundation first fish award. Only Bass were scored for the competition, fish had to be caught with a rod and reel, and $500 in prizes were given to every age division.
