District 5 Councilmember Teri Castillo partnered with residents and staff this past Saturday to install signage near illegal dumping hotspots.
The “Limpio es Más Bonito” campaign was created in collaboration with residents living near reoccurring illegal dump sites as a proactive measure to deter potential violators and redirect them to the City of San Antonio’s waste collection centers.
“District 5 residents are fed up with chronic illegal dumping in their neighborhoods,” the Councilmember said, “Our residents care deeply about their community, and through our collaborative efforts, we printed these signs to educate people where they can legally dispose of their trash and that together we can keep District 5 beautiful.”
District 5 residents can participate actively in this information campaign by requesting an 11 x 8.5-yard sign while supplies last. They should call the District 5 Collins Garden Field Office at 210-207-0960 or visit the office at 200 N Park Blvd, 78204.
The City of San Antonio Solid Waste Management Department (SWMD) has four bulky waste collection centers around the city. With a recent CPS Energy bill and photo ID, SWMD residential customers can dispose of bulky items at a center for free. To view the nearest center or to learn more, visit the SWMD website.
