District 4 Councilmember elected 2025 Women in Municipal Government President

District 4 Councilmember Dr. Adriana Rocha Garcia will be the 2025 Women in Municipal Government (WIMG) President.

One of the National League of Cities (NLC) five constituency groups, WIMG, brings together female municipal leaders to network and share best practices. The group is a caucus within NLC that serves as a forum for communication and networking among women who are local elected officials and their colleagues.

“As the first woman elected to represent District 4 and after forming part of the first woman-majority elected to San Antonio’s City Council, I am proud to share how the City of San Antonio is working to reduce barriers so that people of all backgrounds, including women, can become civic leaders,” stated the District 4 Councilmember.

The District 4 Councilmember appreciates the opportunity to continue working alongside women municipal leaders across the country committed to inclusive and diverse governance. In this new leadership role, she will lead efforts to illustrate the importance of mentorship, youth empowerment, and career exploration, especially in male-dominated industries. In spring 2025, the annual Women in Municipal Government Conference will be held in San Antonio for the first time.

The gavel will be passed today at the Women in Municipal Government Luncheon at the NLC City Summit in Tampa, FL.
