A new contemporary art exhibition is now on view in Lake Charles. It invites visitors to explore how everyday objects can hold deeper meaning, memory, and cultural significance.
Object/Object, currently showing at DPR Gallery, brings together artists whose work explores the evolving role of objects in culture. The exhibition highlights contemporary material practices and examines how objects can function as vessels of memory, transformation, and exchange.
Curated by Meagan Green, the exhibition features ten artists from across the United States. The participating artists represent several regions, including Lake Charles, New York and New Jersey, New Orleans, and Kansas City. Each artist offers a unique perspective on how materials, form, and function interact to shape emotional and cultural narratives.
Through a variety of mediums and creative approaches, the exhibition encourages viewers to reconsider the objects that surround them. Instead of seeing objects as static or purely functional, the artwork highlights their ability to hold stories. Furthermore, these objects can connect communities and reflect cultural identity.
The exhibition opened on February 28 with a public reception welcoming visitors to experience the collection and engage with the curatorial vision behind the show. Object/Object will remain on view through May 16. This gives visitors several weeks to explore the exhibition.
Located in downtown Lake Charles, DPR Gallery is dedicated to presenting contemporary art exhibitions that spark dialogue and inspire curiosity. The gallery continues to serve as an important cultural space for the region. It offers visitors the opportunity to experience innovative work from emerging and established artists.
