This Memorial Day Weekend, the Southtown community is coming together to support one of its own. A cancer benefit fundraiser will take place on Sunday, May 25,
2025, to assist Aaron Peña, the well-known owner of Amor Eterno and Gimme Gimme. Born and raised on the South Side of San Antonio, near Zarzamora Street and Gillette Boulevard, Aaron has long been a local community pillar. He was diagnosed with cancer in April and is set to begin chemotherapy in June. The event aims to help offset his medical expenses during this difficult time.
The benefit will feature a fajita plate sale with a $20 suggested donation. Each plate will include beef fajita, chicken fajita, sausage, rice, beans, potato salad, and all the fixin’s. Attendees can also participate in a raffle with chances to win various prizes, including gift cards to popular local restaurants, a Blackstone grill, a Yeti cooler, a 55-inch TV, and more.
Live music will be provided by local DJ Texas Papi, who will play a mix of Tejano and Conjunto sounds throughout the evening. The bar will offer specialty cocktails crafted with sponsor support from Live Oak Vodka, Twang Micheladas, Beer Salts, and Drink Rimmers. Guests must be 21 or older to attend.
This benefit is made possible thanks to the generosity of several community sponsors, including Live Oak Vodka, Twang, The Fajita Lounge, The Lighthouse Lounge, Kiolbassa Smoked Meats, Gigi’s Deli, Buddy’s Big Trouble, and Bucán Rodeo.
The event will take place at Gimme Gimme, located at 803 S St. Mary’s St. in San Antonio, Texas. The benefit will run from 5 to 9 PM, with the bar remaining open until midnight.
Aaron Peña has played a key role in shaping the culture and nightlife of Southtown through his bars and community involvement. Now the community has a chance to give back.
