Founded on a shared love for Ford Mustangs, community, and giving back, Alamo City Stangs has grown from a group of car enthusiasts into a respected San Antonio car club known for its heart for service. What began as a passion for classic cars has evolved into a powerful mission to support families and spread holiday joy.
For the past 12 consecutive years, Alamo City Stangs has proudly sponsored families in need during the Christmas season. Each year, members gather to collect, purchase, and distribute toys to children who might otherwise go without. This annual Christmas toy drive has become one of the club’s most meaningful traditions and a reminder that the true spirit of the holidays lies in generosity, compassion, and community connection.
Alamo City Stangs is operated by Jerry and Cathy Garza, both born and raised in San Antonio. Jerry is an alumnus of Lanier High School, while Cathy graduated from Sam Houston High School. Together, they are proud alumni of Texas A&M University–San Antonio, reflecting their deep local roots and commitment to giving back to the city they call home.
The success of the toy drive is made possible through strong community partnerships. Over the years, Alamo City Stangs has collaborated with other car clubs and local organizations to expand its impact. One of its most significant supporters is The Alamo Heights Optimist Club, which provides generous annual contributions, including monetary donations, basketballs, diapers, and essential items. In addition, club members and community supporters sponsor individual children by shopping from their toy and clothing wishlists. The organization also works closely with local schools to identify families in need, ensuring that every child in the household aged 18 or younger receives gifts and clothing.
Due to rising costs for police escorts, the club has shifted to a stationary gift-giveaway format. This year’s event will take place in the heart of San Antonio’s West Side and is open to families from all communities.
2025 Christmas Toy Giveaway

Children in attendance will receive a toy while supplies last and enjoy photos with Santa and the Grinch. Sponsored families will receive additional pre-packed gifts.
