Live From The Southside is launching the Southside Taco Trail, a community-powered campaign celebrating the best tacos across South San Antonio, with a special focus on highlighting the mom-and-pop taco spots that are the heart of our community. This is your chance to put your favorite taco places on the map and help create an official taco tour for locals and visitors alike.
Starting May 1st, the community is invited to vote for their favorite taco spots across categories like best bean and cheese, best breakfast tacos, best barbacoa, best street tacos, and hidden gems. Whether it’s your go-to morning stop or a spot you’ve been loyal to for years, your vote helps decide who makes the list.
The Southside Taco Trail will highlight any place that serves tacos, including taquerias, restaurants, food trucks, pop-ups, and local vendors, but at its core, this campaign is about uplifting the small, family-owned businesses that keep South San Antonio’s food culture alive.
The campaign spans across South San Antonio, including District 3 and parts of Districts 4 and 5.
District 3 includes areas within zip codes: 78203, 78210, 78211, 78220, 78223, 78224, including the Brooks area (78235)
District 4 includes areas within zip codes: 78207, 78228, 78237, 78201, 78204, 78211
District 5 includes areas within zip codes: 78207, 78211, 78220, 78221, 78228, 78237
This campaign is rooted in inclusivity and community, making sure every taco spot, from longtime neighborhood staples to hidden family-run gems, has the opportunity to be recognized and supported.
But this goes beyond a simple vote. The top-selected locations will become official stops on the Southside Taco Trail Tour, turning community favorites into a curated experience that highlights the flavor, culture, and legacy of South San Antonio. It’s a way for both locals and visitors to explore the area through the places people trust most.
In addition, the top three winners overall will receive an official Southside Taco Trail award, recognizing them as some of the best taco spots in South San Antonio and giving them added visibility across the Live From The Southside platforms.
Tacos are part of everyday life here, but they represent something deeper: family traditions, hard work, and the stories behind every small business. This campaign shines a light on those stories while giving the community a voice in who gets recognized.
