It was an absolute joy to preview the Mardi Gras festivities at Six Flags Fiesta Texas!

Our trip started with a nice walk, during which we admired the bright decor arranged around the park. We then arrived at their ‘Rockville High School’ to see an impressive display of seasonal food and merchandise. We also had the opportunity to interview the Regional Manager of Media and Public Relations, Cyle Perez. During the interview, we asked about the new entertainment Mardi Gras had to offer, for which he stated, “Mardi Gras has all new entertainment, which is so exciting. Right now, we’re standing in front of the voodoo dolls, which won the best show award internationally from any theme park in the world, and it’s incredible to have them right here in San Antonio. But we have a lot of fun shows you can check out”. We also asked about his favorite Mardi Gras snack and favorite show to watch. He stated, “I love voodoo dolls. They’re award winners. Of course. But I would say dance parade because it is so much fun – there’s acrobatics in it, there’s silks, it’s a lot of fun. And we have all that in front of the park. Regarding food, it has to be the Cajun-loaded fry. I am a sucker for French fries, and these are absolutely delicious – I recommend trying”. Later, we took selfies with the Park Manager, Robert Bustle.

After seeing everything they had to offer, we ventured out to explore and try some of their exclusive bites. We tried a few different items, including Bacon-Wrapped Boudin Balls, Beignets, and Chicken Crackling Red Beans and Rice. The food at the park never disappoints; they consistently raise the bar on flavor and creativity. Every dish was phenomenal, especially for it being our first time at Mardi Gras. After trying the variety of foods, we headed to the award-winning voodoo dolls show at ‘Rockville High School’. The show offered great photo ops and included top-tier decor. From the dancing and singing to the amazing costumes, this show was extraordinarily enriching. It brought a transcendent New Orleans theme with a modern touch. Overall, the performance fully justified its award-winning reputation.

Subsequent to the performance, we were given the incredible opportunity to stand in the annual Mardi Gras parade. As we made our way to the floats, we were allowed to put on colorful Jester outfits, which truly enhanced our experience. After we boarded our float, they gave us bead necklaces to hand out to the crowd. As we started moving,  the energy from the crowd and other members on the float was undeniable. This experience was exceptional and one-of-a-kind. It was full of dancing, smiles, and great energy. One of my favorite moments was seeing the joy on the crowd’s faces when they were asked to join the dancers in the celebration. Overall, this experience was deeply memorable and thoroughly appreciated.

Looking back on our visit, it is clear that Six Flags Fiesta Texas has perfected the art of celebration. From the unique performances to the tasteful culinary options, every detail of the Mardi Gras festival was crafted with intention and flair. However, what truly set this experience apart was the genuine connection we felt, not just from the entertainment but from the passionate people behind it. Whether we were tossing beads from a float or watching award-winning shows, we felt pure joy. There is a distinct energy that fills the park during Mardi Gras, and we were lucky enough to be fully immersed in it.
