Live from the Southside was founded in 2020 and is published by April Monterrosa, an award-winning entrepreneur, author, speaker, mentor, and community advocate. As a proudly woman-owned multimedia platform based in South San Antonio, we shine a spotlight on the spirit, voices, and everyday brilliance of our city. Covering the full spectrum of San Antonio with a special focus on the South, West, and East sides, we bridge these vibrant communities with the rest of the city. Our storytelling brings to life the authentic pride and everyday moments that define our neighborhoods.

Founded in 2020, Live From the Southside is a trusted community connector and cultural champion, highlighting the people, businesses, nonprofits, and changemakers who inspire, empower, and uplift our diverse communities while connecting readers to resources, opportunities, and experiences that preserve heritage and spark positive change.

Dedicated to empowerment and connection, Live from the Southside supports youth writing programs tied to the magazine, literacy, and financial literacy efforts—making a measurable impact on our community. We are also proud organizers of major community events, such as the Southside Book Fair and Southside Market Days, which promote local vendors, artists, and authors while fostering community engagement.

Our stories cover everything from everyday life and local travel to cars, education, and lifting the next generation through youth programs and community involvement. Through partnerships with KSAT12, SA Live, and KLMO 98.9 FM — including The April Monterrosa Show, and co-founding San Antonio Latina Legacy — we bring local voices and stories to the forefront, extending our reach across Texas and beyond.
