The Westin Riverwalk, San Antonio, has appointed Chaitan Mugili as its new General Manager, marking a significant return to the hotel where he began his hospitality career nearly two decades ago. Mugili, who once served as a Front Desk and Housekeeping Manager at the property, now brings back over 20 years of leadership experience in the hospitality industry to the iconic San Antonio hotel. His return represents a full-circle moment and signals a strong future for The Westin Riverwalk under his guidance.
Before rejoining The Westin Riverwalk, Mugili served as General Manager for Winston Hospitality, leading operations for the dual-branded AC by Marriott and Element by
Westin in downtown San Antonio. There, he successfully managed 343 guest rooms, a rooftop bar, and multiple commercial tenants, overseeing a staff of 150 team members. His career includes leadership roles with some of the industry’s top brands, including Marriott, Hyatt, and Starwood Hotels. Mugili has consistently improved guest satisfaction scores, team culture, and financial performance, earning General Manager of the Year honors from Marriott in 2018 and the San Antonio Hotel & Lodging Association (SAHLA) in 2021.
In addition to his operational expertise, Mugili is deeply committed to the San Antonio hospitality industry and community. He currently serves as Chairman of SAHLA and sits on the San Antonio Visitor Alliance board. On May 29, 2025, he was formally recognized by the Texas House of Representatives with a certificate of appreciation for his dedication to service and hospitality across the state. That same day, he was honored with a Gallery Recognition on the House Floor for his contributions to education, advocacy, and community development. Mugili has also raised over $16,000 for charitable organizations, including the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and the Susan G. Komen Foundation, and regularly volunteers with the San Antonio Food Bank.
