Taste of the Southside
Mission Up!, a 501c3 presents TASTE OF THE SOUTHSIDE! By attending the new San Antonio festival, you’ll have an opportunity to experience the culture, food, art and music of San Antonio’s vibrant South Side. The festival will be benefiting the students and campus of Por Vida Academy which is “Deep In The Heart” of the city, located at 1135 Mission Road, the location of Taste Of The Southside!
There will be activities for kids, featured exhibitors, delicious food, beverages & music for the entire family. (No ice chests or outside beverages allowed.) Media sponsor, WOAI News4, along with their affiliate stations will be on site.
TASTE OF THE SOUTHSIDE will kick off on Saturday, April 13th at 11:30 a.m. with opening ceremonies and continue with stellar talent throughout the day. Headliner, Ruben Ramos will bring the classic sounds of Tejano at 8 p.m. “There ain’t nothing like a wall of sound, real sound, coming at you”. This characterizes the sound of El Gato: true horns, real drums with crashing cymbals, accordion so real you can hear the clicks of the buttons – all delivered by the master musicians of the Texas Revolution.
Viral sensation & SA’s own celebrity comedian, CHONA-E, is also joining us throughout both days.
On Saturday, the public will have a chance to judge in SA’s first Michelada Match! Area bars and restaurants will be competing for the best Michelada mix coupled with the featured beer, Dos Equis. Come and help select this year’s winner for the Michelada Match!
The festival resumes on Sunday, April 14th at 11:30 with an interdenominational mass hosted by Javier Galvan, followed by local and regional entertainers. Cesar K-Oso and Tropa Estrella will be closing the evening with the International sounds of Cumbias Colombianas!
