Tackle Reading Day with former NFL player

Marcus Coleman is a former American football defensive back in the National Football League for the New York Jets, Houston Texans and the Dallas Cowboys. He played college football at Texas Tech University. In 2018, he was named the first head coach of the Indoor Football League’s Tucson Sugar Skulls after serving as defensive coordinator with the Iowa Barnstormers during their championship season.

The following season, he was hired as the head coach of the West Texas Warbirds based out of Odessa, Texas, in Champions Indoor Football. Marcus and his wife Lisa, live in Texas and have children, Nick, Gabriella, Jonathan, and a grandson Jaidon.
The 6th annual Tackle Reading Day was held on March 2, 2022. Tackle Reading: A Book & Movement to promote a love of literacy with a passion for football-an educational initiative supported by the NFL, NFL Legends, NFLA, and WNFC.

When Lisa Coleman, wife of Marcus, was asked about her thoughts regarding the
event here, she said; “I’m from the Southside and attended Stonewall and Flanders, it brought joy to my heart to be able to bring this event to my beloved Southside.”
