There are many parks in the South side of San Antonio you, your friends and family can enjoy. Here is where you can find them:
Note: Many of the parks are maintained and operated by the San Antonio Parks & Recreation Department. Their mission is “to provide exceptional parks, facilities, programs and services to improve the quality of life for all.”
Acequia Park– 8500 Mission Parkway- Large 72.5-acre park that offers picnic tables, BBQ grills, access to paddling and walking trails, bird watching and fishing pier.
Al Forge Park– 1900 West Pyron Avenue- City park with basketball court, grill area, picnic tables, playground, softball field and tennis court.
Arnold Park– 1011 Gillette Boulevard- 24.6-acre city park with several sports amenities such as a basketball court, soccer field, and volleyball court.
Bellaire Park– 733 East Ansley Street- 6.5-acre community skate park with grills, pavilion, picnic tables, playground and 0.15-mile biking/hiking/walking trail.
Brooks Park– 3902 Lyster Road- Community park with baseball, soccer and softball fields, basketball court, playground, public art displays and 1-mile walking trail.
Chris Park– 111 Camp Street- Enjoy 18 plant varieties, a fountain, a constellation-themed walkway and benches inscribed with uplifting quotes from Chris Pace’s journals. “Built in 2005 at 111 Camp Street by the late Linda Pace, an art patron and daughter of the Pace Picante Sauce family, Chris Park is a living tribute to the memory of her son, Christopher Goldbury, who passed away in 1997.”
Collins Garden Park– 1525 Nogalitos Street- Park that offers a covered shelter, pavilion, playground, basketball courts, tennis courts, and 0.79-mile soft surface trail.
Acequia Park
Columbus Park– 500 Columbus Street- 2.1-acre park featuring basketball & bocce courts, a fountain, open green space & picnic shelters.
Concepcion Park– 500 Theo Parkway- 21-acre green space featuring a playground, sport courts & a public swimming pool.
Confluence Park– 310 West Mitchell Street- Green space offering landscaped hike & bike paths by the river, native plants & unique structures.
Denver Heights Park– 300 Porter Street- Park with amenities such as a playground, grills, picnic tables, and a flower garden. There are also sports opportunities with basketball, baseball, and tennis.
Espada Park– 1750 Southeast Military Drive- Park that overlooks the San Antonio River, with amenities including picnic tables and grills in the middle of green space, perfect for a day of picnicking.
Flores Park– 803 West Southcross Boulevard- 11-acre park that consists of plenty of amenities such as a pavilion with restrooms and water fountains, picnic tables, a playground, swimming pool, and a 0.42-mile trail.
Gateway Terrace Park– 5605 Stonybrook Drive- Community park featuring basketball court, playground and 0.25-mile paved trail.
Confluence Park
Golden Community Park– 7801 Somerset Road- 15.9-acre park with amenities that include picnicking area, playground and trails.
Harlandale Park– 7227 Briar Place- Park that offers two pavilions, fitness equipment, a basketball court, and 11.1 acres of space to play.
Hot Wells of Bexar County – 5503 South Presa Street, along the Mission Reach section of the San Antonio River Walk, with connections to the Mission Reach Trails. The park is right across the river from Mission San Jose. The park features a community vegetable garden and picnic tables.
Jim Mattox Park– 1222 Mission Grande- Park with grilling area, picnic tables, playground, tennis court and 0.11-mile walking trail.
Kelly Area Park– 949 West Thompson Place- Park offers a paved bike trail, bike rack, grills, water fountain, picnic table, playgrounds, and a walking trail (0.25 mi) to visitors.
Kingsborough Park– 350 Felps Boulevard- 12.9-acre multi-use area with a swimming pool (Kingsborough Park Swimming Pool) and a playscape on the other side of the parking lot.
Labor Street Park– 645 Labor Street- Renovated 1.95-acre park with regraded kickball field with a new backstop, a fitness station, resurfaced walkways and a multi-use court.
Mission Reach
Medina Base Road Park– 6303 Medina Base Road- Park with multipurpose field, pavilion, picnic tables, playground, skate park and 0.54-mile trail.
Medina River Natural Area– 15890 State Highway South- 511-acre oasis with riverfront paved & dirt hiking & biking trails, a variety of terrain & wildlife.
Millers Pond Park– 6175 Old Pearsall Road- 42-acre park featuring a stocking fishing pond, picnic areas, a basketball court & football field.
Mission County Park– 7675 Padre Drive- County park offering trails along the river, a playground, performance pavilions & sports fields.
Mission Hike & Bike Trail– Provides pedestrian, bicycle, and vehicular routes that link San Antonio’s five Spanish colonial missions: San Antonio de Valero (the Alamo), Concepcion, San Jose, San Juan, and Espada.
Morrill Park- 238 East Hart Avenue- 1.4-acre park with basketball court, grilling area, picnic tables and playground.
Normoyle Park– 700 Culberson Avenue- 30.2-acre park that features baseball field, community center, pavilion, playground, skate park, swimming pool, tennis court and walking trail.
Padre Park– 6515 Padre Drive- County park with picnic area, playground and walking trail.
Palo Alto Park– 1625 Palo Alto Road- 12-acre park featuring basketball court, multipurpose field, tennis court and 0.4-mile walking trail.
Golden Park
Palo Alto Terrace Park– 9700 Celeste Drive- City park featuring basketball court, grill area, multipurpose field, pavilion, picnic tables, playground, tennis court and 0.23-mile paved trail.
Palm Heights Park– 1201 West Malone Avenue- Park with 2 basketball courts, picnic area, playground and tennis court.
Pearsall Park– 5102 Old Pearsall Road- Large recreation area with a disc golf course, playground, skate park, splash pads & outdoor gym.
Pearsall Dog Park– 4700 Old Pearsall Road- 1.5-acre off-leash fenced dog park with water fountains, picnic tables, waste bags, agility equipment, and fire hydrants.
Pytel Park– 6220 South New Braunfels Avenue- 34.4-acre park with grilling area, multipurpose field, picnic tables, playground and 0.53-mile hard-surface trail.
Roosevelt Park– 331 Roosevelt Avenue- 12.9-acre city park offering a swimming pool, community center, picnic areas, basketball court & a playground.
Rosedale Park– 303 Dartmouth Street- Large 61.8-acre outdoor area with mix of sport grounds as well as mass picnic facilities, pavilions & walking trail.
Royalgate Park– 5801 Windy Hill- 8.2-acre park with athletic fields, basketball court, playground, tennis court and 0.17-mile walking trail.
The Greenline
San Antonio Missions National Historical Park- 6701 San Jose Drive- Within the park grounds, four separate mission sites offer recreation opportunities for the whole family.
Southside Lions Park– 3100 Hiawatha Street- A 600-acre recreation area with a community center, a lake, a seasonal pool, sports fields & trails.
Spicewood Park– 3139 Fidelia Drive- 31.8-acre park that features a basketball court, playground and 0.2-mile walking trail.
Stinson Park– 900 March Avenue- Huge 75-acre park with 4 baseball fields, 1 softball field, playground and 0.35-mile unpaved trail.
Tejeda Park– 541 Division Avenue- 8.75-acre park featuring 4 multipurpose fields, athletic field, basketball court, tennis court and playground.
The Greenline– 2532 Sidney Brooks- Waterfront linear park at Brooks in San Antonio offers a beautiful backdrop for you to walk your dog, play outdoor games, barbecue at the pavilions, or even bring your kids to enjoy the play structure.
