It felt like a South San Antonio reunion when Jen Tobias-Struski, host of SA Live and Southwest ISD alumna, joined April Monterrosa, publisher of Live from the Southside (South San ISD alumna), Adam “Ace” Garcia, producer and radio host at KLMO 98.9 FM (Harlandale ISD alumnus), and three-time Grammy-nominated country artist Jase Martin (Harlandale ISD alumnus) for a special SA Live segment celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month, with a spotlight on the Latinos in Country Music series.
This series, which has been gaining momentum on The April Monterrosa Show on KLMO 98.9 FM, began by spotlighting Latino country music artists from Monterrosa’s South San Antonio roots. What started as a local initiative soon expanded to showcase Latino country artists across Texas.
The Latinos in Country Music series is part of a broader movement recognizing the contributions of Latino musicians making waves in a genre traditionally not associated with Latino culture. These talented artists bring a unique sound shaped by the fusion of Tejano influences and classic country music, captivating a wide and diverse audience.
Live from the Southside proudly partners with KSAT12, SA Live, and KLMO 98.9 FM to elevate community voices and news coverage of the South Side.
