Alejandro Brittes Live at Mission Concepción: A Southside Cultural Highlight

Alejandro Brittes’ South San Antonio performance at Mission Concepción offers a rare opportunity to experience live chamamé music in one of the city’s most culturally significant spaces. The historic mission provides the perfect setting for this deeply spiritual genre, which blends Baroque European and Indigenous Guaraní musical traditions.

Chamamé was born in the Jesuit missions of South America—regions that include Paraguay, Argentina, Brazil, and Bolivia. It has been officially recognized as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO, and Brittes is one of the genre’s most respected ambassadors.

This is a must-see free concert in San Antonio, especially for those passionate about world music, Latin American heritage, and unique cultural experiences on the Southside.
