On any given day at Mambo Seafood, the vibrant sounds of conversation and laughter fill the air. It’s a lively, welcoming atmosphere built on Latin-inspired seafood traditions and the warmth of community. Now, that same energy has a new home in San Antonio’s Westside.
On September 8, Mambo Seafood officially opened its newest location at 719 Castroville Road, in the historic Las Palmas neighborhood. The Westside’s newest gathering place is designed for family celebrations, casual lunches, and evenings with friends. The 6,500-square-foot space seats 244 guests, its layout reflecting how Westside families come together—around a table, with great food at the center.
Founded in Houston in 1996, Mambo Seafood has become a neighborhood favorite, celebrated for its bold flavors and generous portions. From its inception, the goal has been to offer the highest quality seafood with the best flavor, at the best price. The Las Palmas restaurant is the brand’s third San Antonio location, joining Brooks City Base and the Medical Center. Each Mambo restaurant is crafted to feel like a natural part of its community, becoming a true neighbor.
Beyond the delicious food and lively atmosphere, Mambo Seafood is dedicated to being a long-term community partner. This commitment is seen in their local hiring, with 100 new team members brought on from the surrounding area. It’s a focus on empowering neighbors by creating opportunities for long-term careers close to home.
That commitment extends far beyond the restaurant’s walls. Mambo supports local nonprofits, including a recent Hispanic Heritage Month initiative that featured two special margaritas, the Mi Compa ’Rita and the El Grito ’Rita. A portion of the proceeds benefited the Avenida Guadalupe Association, a local nonprofit dedicated to the economic development of the Westside. The company also donated $2,000 to the Edgewood Education Foundation and plans further collaborations with organizations like the Madonna Center.
For Las Palmas, the arrival of Mambo Seafood is both a source of pride and a celebration of the neighborhood’s enduring spirit and rich heritage. It’s a place where families can gather, celebrate milestones, and create lasting memories. By providing jobs for residents, supporting local organizations, and investing in the community’s future, Mambo Seafood is not just serving food—it’s building a space for the entire neighborhood. This new chapter in San Antonio reflects the Mambo way: bringing people together, one great meal at a time.
