The Bexar County Clerk’s Office, led by Hon. Lucy Adame-Clark, proudly recognized Live From The Southside in celebration of its fifth anniversary, presenting both a formal Certificate of Recognition and a symbolic Alamo Flag during a special ceremony at the Bexar County Clerk’s Southside Annex.

As the first woman-owned publication on San Antonio’s Southside, Live From The Southside, founded by award-winning entrepreneur, author, speaker, and community advocate April Monterrosa, has become a trusted voice for neighborhood stories, cultural pride, and community empowerment.

A Meaningful Recognition from Bexar County

Five Years of Community Impact

Over the past five years, Live From The Southside has grown into a unifying and impactful platform. The publication launched a literacy initiative serving rural areas, introduced financial literacy resources for local families, the annual Southside Book Fair, and created a youth writing program designed to empower the next generation of storytellers. Additionally, Southside Market Days was developed as a supportive space for emerging entrepreneurs and small businesses to gain visibility and economic opportunity. Through consistent advocacy, uplifting neighborhood voices, and celebrating cultural heritage, the publication has strengthened community pride and engagement throughout San Antonio, beginning with the Southside.

This recognition from the Bexar County Clerk’s Office underscores the importance of representation and local journalism in shaping a stronger, more connected community.
