Margo C. Martinez Creates Opportunities Through Leadership

Margo C. Martinez is a San Antonio procurement manager and DE&I Americas lead who uses her leadership to create opportunities for small businesses and professionals from diverse backgrounds.

In her role, Margo leads procurement for mission-critical data centers. She focuses on building relationships within the community and helping smaller construction companies access opportunities that support their growth and profitability.

Margo also advocates for women, members of the LGBTQIA+ community, neurodiverse individuals, and people from different cultural backgrounds to be hired by global companies. She believes diversity strengthens workplaces and contributes to long-term business success.

Having lived in San Antonio for 26 years, Margo’s journey reflects ambition, perseverance, and the courage to change. She began as a struggling single mother raising three boys. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she changed the direction of her career so her sons could pursue their dreams of becoming engineers.

As a mother of a son with a disability and as someone with ADHD, Margo understands the importance of inclusion and advocating for people whose talents may not always be recognized. Her experiences motivate her to help others access opportunities and believe in their potential.

Margo raised her three sons to take responsibility for themselves while also giving back to others. One became an audio engineer and music producer, while another serves as a mechanical engineer in the United States Marine Corps. Their accomplishments reflect the determination and sense of service she encouraged at home.

Her story is proof that people are not defined by their circumstances or upbringing. Instead, Margo has used her challenges as motivation, building a career that helps open doors for businesses, professionals, and communities.

“Don’t wait for your seat at the table,” Margo shared. “No one will advocate for you as you will. While you may not be the ‘smartest’ person in the room, you are there for a purpose.”

For Margo C. Martinez, creating a legacy is not only about professional accomplishments. It is about the impact she makes on others and the opportunities she helps create along the way.

“Trauma can be used as an excuse or as motivation,” she said. “I choose motivation every time.”
