Frida Fest 2026 Returns to San Antonio for 10th Anniversary

For the past decade, Frida Fest has become one of San Antonio’s most anticipated cultural celebrations, bringing together artists, artisans, performers, and families to honor the legacy of Frida Kahlo while celebrating the creativity and strength of women.

This year marks the festival’s 10th anniversary, and organizers are returning to where it all began at Wonderland of the Americas Mall for a free two-day celebration on Saturday, August 15, and Sunday, August 16, from noon to 5 p.m.

Presented by Que Retro Arts and Curious Twins Tours, Frida Fest has grown into much more than an annual event. Since 2016, it has celebrated the spirit of F.R.I.D.A., representing women who are Fabulous, Respectful, Independent, Determined, and Assured. The festival also pays tribute to influential women including Frida Kahlo, Selena Quintanilla, and Gloria Anzaldúa while creating opportunities for local artists and small businesses to showcase their work.

Visitors can spend the weekend exploring an artisan mercado featuring more than 60 local vendors and galleries, enjoying live entertainment, viewing a curated art show, and experiencing a community fashion show. Guests are also invited to participate in the Community Altar by bringing photos of loved ones and women who have made a lasting impact on their lives.

A Historic Frida Gathering

One of the biggest highlights of this year’s festival will be the return of the popular Frida Kahlo Look-alike Contest. Organizers are planning a Guinness World Record attempt for the largest gathering of people dressed as Frida Kahlo, inviting participants of all ages and genders to wear the artist’s signature floral crowns, colorful dresses, and iconic style.

Whether you’re competing or simply attending, organizers hope to create the largest gathering of Fridas the event has ever seen.

Frida Fest will take place at Wonderland of the Americas Mall, located at 4522 Fredericksburg Road in Balcones Heights. Admission is free and open to the public.

Artists and vendors interested in participating can still apply through the festival’s vendor application. For more information, contact Queretroarts@gmail.com for entertainment and mercado opportunities or Curioustwinsparanormal@gmail.com for general questions.

For ten years, Frida Fest has celebrated art, culture, and community while creating space for local creatives to shine. As the festival returns to its original home, this milestone celebration promises to be one of its biggest yet.
