South San Graduate Jonas Carlisle Signs to Play Basketball in Luxembourg

A Southside success story is taking his talents overseas.

South San Antonio High School graduate Jonas Carlisle, who was born and raised on San Antonio’s South Side, is preparing for the next chapter of his basketball journey as he heads to Luxembourg, a small country in Western Europe bordered by Belgium, Germany, and France, to continue his basketball career.

Carlisle’s love for the game began at just 3 or 4 years old while playing basketball at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church. Since then, he has dedicated countless hours to developing his skills, rarely putting the basketball down.

After nearly 20 years of hard work, determination, and dedication, his lifelong dream has become a reality. His commitment to the game has earned him the opportunity to compete internationally, and he was also recently recognized as an All-American.

Before leaving for Europe, the community has one more opportunity to see Carlisle on the court.

His team will play today at 7:30 p.m. at the South San Antonio High School gymnasium. If they advance, they will return to play again tomorrow at 4:00 p.m.

The Southside community has watched Jonas Carlisle grow into an outstanding athlete, and now he’ll represent South San Antonio, San Antonio, and Texas on an international stage.

Congratulations to Jonas Carlisle, and best of luck as he begins this exciting new chapter in Luxembourg.
