Most of us are stuck at home with our families social distancing from others and the usual places we go. There is only so much you can do to pass the time till you become bored. Here is a list of things you can do to keep from that happening.
- Start a journal. Jotting down your daily thoughts can be a great way to escape stress.
- Create a calendar of family and friends’ birthdays and anniversaries.
- Catch up on your favorite series on TV or start a new one.
- Listen to a podcast.
- Make a list of your long- and short-term goals.
- Read a book; drift away into a fun short story or learn about new places.
- Take an online class.
- Volunteer and help our city organizations and/or nonprofits.
- Rearrange your house, switch up the arrangement of the furniture, move the bed, etc.
- Clean out the fridge and pantry and get rid of all expired foods.
- Get rid of old makeup; cleaning out your makeup bag is something women tend to put off.
- No first aid kit in your home, now is the time to create one.
- Create playlists on Pandora, Spotify, Apple and/or Google music for work, road trips, or for relaxing.
- Watch old classic movies or a genre you normally wouldn’t choose.
- Phone full of pictures? Now is a great time to put them into an external or create photo albums.
- Send an email to out of town friends and family.
- Take on a new hobby; painting, photography, sculpting, graphic design, writing, knitting are some ideas.
- Update your resume and portfolio.
- If you have a dog, teach him new tricks.
- Sign up for newsletters of your favorite businesses or media sites.
- Email getting a lot of spam? Clean it out and/or unsubscribe from what your no longer read.
- Rearrange your clothing drawers.
- Have a karaoke party with your family.
- Do some self-care. Give yourself a facial mask, manicure, a conditioning mask, or polish your toenails.
- Download a meditation app to relieve stress.
- Try new recipes.
- Break out the board games.
- Write letters to loved ones.
- Do an indoor scavenger hunt.
- Catch up on sleep.
