Creating a Legacy for San Antonio’s Southside
Texas Vista Medical Center, (formally Southwest General Hospital) the new teaching hospital for the University of Incarnate Word School of Osteopathic Medicine, hosted their first White Coat Ceremony for 27 medical residents on the Southside of San Antonio. The University of the Incarnate Word School of Osteopathic Medicine is a private, non-profit, medical school for osteopathic medicine located at 7615 Kennedy Hill Dr, San Antonio, TX 78235 in the Brooks area.
The White Coat Ceremony took place on July 7, 2021 at Texas Vista Medical Center, 7400 Barlite Blvd, San Antonio, Texas. District 4 Councilwoman Dr. Adriana Rocha-Garcia was also in attendance and welcome the new residents to the Southside community.
The partnership between Texas Vista Medical Center and the University of Incarnate Word School of Osteopathic Medicine is an important step in the evolution of high-quality, community-based care. This partnership is helping transform and advance health care for patients and closing the gap in health disparities on San Antonio’s southside and regionally.

The 27 residents who will be spending the next few years on our campus and in our Southside community caring for those most in need of quality medical care. This has been 8 years in the making, since UIW began its first class at the school of medicine, and they are creating a legacy for our community.
