The South San High School Bobcat Senior Flambeau Parade was a perfect example of how our Southside community gets together to celebrate accomplishments; no matter what is going on in the world at the moment. With the South San Antonio Independent School District’s approval, over 200 vehicles, family, friends, faculty, and graduating class members filled the neighborhood streets surrounding the high school on May 23, 2020 to celebrate the graduating class of 2020.
The South San Police Department and Last Chance Ministry Bike Club began the parade route as the seniors followed. The excitement was contagious; you couldn’t help but join in on the celebration of all of the hard work these students have done throughout the year to make it to graduation.
The parade began and ended at the high school’s athletic center and went through the school’s campus and the surrounding neighborhood. There were several DJs (Albert Trujillo, Gabe Mojica, Marcus Madrigal) throughout the route to keep the crowd and parade participants festive.
Vehicles were decorated with its school colors and representation of the organizations and schools the newly graduating class would be attending. We met with a few family members of the seniors and the stories they shared with us about some of their future endeavors definitely touched our hearts.
An event like this isn’t easy to pull off nor is it easy work. It wouldn’t have been possible without the various sponsors and most of all, the parade committee members; Gilbert F. Rodriguez, Andy Guevara (The Voice), Lilly Carpio (Mamarazzi), Richard Carpio, Stacy Alderete, Reggie Serna, Yvette Gutierrez, & Rosie Gutierrez.
Congratulations South San Bobcats Class of 2020. May all your dreams come true and remember, success… nothing less. Go Bobcats! The Bobcat Senior Flambeau Parade was live streamed by Live From The Southside and Saulo Rodriguez and sponsored by Martinez & Associates PLLC.
