Zine Lab Monthly
Join us for a special Zine Lab Monthly as we celebrate Women’s History Month at Central Library with local zinester Ana Camacho Espiritu! No registration required.
A zine (pronounced ZEEN) is an independently published magazine or booklet. Using provided supplies, folks can create their own artistic mini books to express themselves and tell their own stories.

Freak-a-zine
Learn a variety of techniques to bring your zines out of the ordinary! This workshop is for anyone looking to make their zines more unique and distinct to the author’s personal taste. We will explore uncommon practices in zine production, design, assemblage, and distribution. Participants will walk away with a clear rubric for developing their own taste in zines, as well as one to three mock-up zines. Materials for creating mock-ups will be available and participants are highly encouraged to bring their own supplies to incorporate into their works: photos, magazine cut outs, lace, stamps, inks, all is welcome.
Freak-a-zine is taught by Ana Camacho Espiritu, co-founder and co-organizer of the San Anto Zine Fest. Ana has been independently publishing zines for over ten years, first with La Liga Zine and now through Multicontextual.

Participants are welcome to donate a copy of their zine to be included in our SAPL Zine Collection which is available for public use at Central Library and showcases materials written by, about, and for our community.
