Gardening Volunteers of South Texas is pleased to host City of San Antonio Urban Forest Steward Program training in AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE and ENGLISH for our November 18, 2024 Gardening Essentials class. Free and open to the public.
Who should attend?
+Everyone who values shade on a sunny day.
+ Everyone who wants to breathe clean air.
+ Everyone who cares about the future of San Antonio.
Training will include all aspects of tree care from selection to pruning and maintenance; and how to water properly from fresh-in-ground to maturity.. You will get to know the characteristics of every tree species that San Antonio Parks and Recreation plans to give away in the 2024-2025 season.
GVST consistently provides Volunteer support to Jammin’ Jams, Día del Árbol and other annual tree adoption events. We encourage every member of GVST to participate in this training for us to be up to the new standard of training for volunteers for these events, and to be prepared to share the most accurate information wherever we support other community events.
We encourage all current and potential volunteers with City tree adoption events to join us to participate in this new program required for City volunteers.
We encourage all community members who are tree-curious or want to improve your own knowledge about local native trees to utilize this opportunity to attend training that us usually only available for City volunteers.
Those who complete the training during Gardening Essentials are NOT required to volunteer with either GVST nor the City of San Antonio, but we both would welcome you to do so if you choose to!
